NDC leader urges INEC to restore omitted 2027 poll candidates in Kano, Kaduna, Cross River
Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Bayelsa State governor, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly restore the names of NDC governorship candidates omitted from the final list for the 2027 general elections. According to Dickson’s Facebook post on Thursday night, the affected candidates are those running in Kano, Kaduna, and Cross River States. He said the omission appears to be an error and assured supporters that the party is working diligently to correct it, noting that all affected candidates registered before the statutory 21‑day deadline.
Premium Times reports that INEC published the final candidate list on Saturday, October 12, 2026, and the NDC leadership has attributed the missing names to a technical mistake. Dickson emphasized that the party fielded qualified candidates through a rigorous screening process and expressed confidence that INEC will correct the oversight without delay. He added that consultations and campaigns will continue nationwide while the NDC sustains engagement with INEC on the matter.
The omission raises concerns about voter confidence and the credibility of the electoral process in the three states, especially as the 2027 elections approach. If the names are not reinstated, eligible voters in Kano, Kaduna, and Cross River could be deprived of their preferred NDC options on the ballot.
If you reside in Kano, Kaduna, or Cross River, how might this omission influence your trust in the upcoming elections and your willingness to participate?
