According to a September 26 report by Seun Opejobi, NDC Director of New Media Theo Abu Agada said on Saturday, September 24 that Abia State Governor Alex Otti should be campaigning for Peter Obi's 2027 presidential bid instead of supporting President Bola Tinubu's policies. Agada stated Otti was the 'biggest beneficiary of Obi’s wave in 2023' after running on the Labour Party ticket with Obi, who lost the presidency while Otti won Abia State governorship. 'If for nothing else, he owes him,' Agada posted on X, adding that by backing Tinubu's 'anti-people reforms,' Otti is endorsing Tinubu for a second term and 'is an enemy of the Nigerian people.'

This highlights the growing pressure on politicians who rose with the 2023 Obi movement to declare clear 2027 allegiances as election positioning intensifies. For Abia voters and Nigerians tracking political consistency, Otti's current alignment with Tinubu contrasts sharply with his 2023 Labour Party association. As parties finalize 2027 strategies, such public criticisms signal shifting alliances that could influence voter decisions. Will Otti maintain his Tinubu support despite NDC pressure, or realign with the Obi movement that launched his governorship?
