NDC uploads Peter Obi's 2027 presidential details to INEC portal, VP name pending
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has uploaded presidential candidate Peter Obi's particulars to the INEC portal for the 2027 elections, National Leader Seriake Dickson announced on X. Dickson stated the vice presidential candidate's name will be uploaded after completing required documentation, while submissions for National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates are ongoing. He confirmed the party met INEC's timetable and noted sufficient time remains for all candidate submissions before respective deadlines.
Dickson also disclosed the NDC filed an appeal against a court ruling affecting the party, alongside a stay of execution application, both served on INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan with a request for lawful compliance. He affirmed the NDC remains a duly registered party, having concluded nationwide primaries monitored by INEC, and assured unsuccessful aspirants would be integrated into campaign structures as the 'backbone' of the party. Dickson praised INEC's professionalism in registering the NDC and two other parties per court order, urging electoral bodies, judiciary and security agencies to safeguard Nigeria's democracy through neutrality.
