NDLEA seizes over N10bn drugs, 401 ammo rounds in nationwide raids

NDLEA announced on July 26, 2026 that its operatives intercepted illicit drugs worth over N10 billion and recovered 401 rounds of military-grade ammunition in a series of operations across Lagos, Katsina, Edo and other states. In Lagos, a 55-year-old clothing dealer, Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu, was arrested on July 23 for attempting to export 3.30 kg of cocaine hidden in food cartons at Murtala Muhammed International Airport; three cargo agents were earlier detained. On July 21, Emmanuella Chukwu-Edo was seized in Surulere with 2.80 kg of synthetic cannabis (Loud) that arrived from the United States. A joint inspection at Lagos airport on July 24 uncovered 2.24 million Tapentadol 250 mg pills worth over N2.2 billion from an Air Maroc flight from India, while tramadol hidden in black soap destined for the UK was intercepted at a Lagos courier firm on July 22. At Apapa Seaport on July 20, officers found a container holding three vehicles concealing 4,777 sachets of Canadian Loud weighing 2,388.5 kg valued over N7.1 billion. In Katsina State, Mustapha Sani was arrested with 323 rounds of 7.62 mm and 7.6 mm ammunition, and Abubakar Amadu was stopped on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway with 73 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo in palm-oil kegs. In Edo State, a warehouse raid yielded 1,286 kg of cannabis and 86 kg of cannabis seeds, leading to two arrests. NDLEA chief Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the operatives and urged sustained operations and public vigilance.
