The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦188.1 million to three federal institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session. The breakdown shows ₦96.18 million went to the Federal College of Agriculture in Akure, Ondo State, covering 446 students in five batches; ₦85.12 million to the Federal University of Environment and Technology in Rivers State, for 395 students across three batches; and ₦6.85 million to the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology in Zaria, Kaduna State, benefitting 141 students in three tranches. All beneficiary institutions have confirmed receipt, with officials thanking NELFUND for easing tuition burdens amid economic hardship.

This latest tranche brings the number of students supported by NELFUND under the Federal Government’s interest‑free student loan scheme to 982 across the three schools. Earlier this month the fund had already allocated ₦1.5 billion to other tertiary institutions, showing a steady rollout of the loan programme that covers tuition fees for approved courses.

For students and families relying on these loans, the timely release means tuition can be paid without resorting to high‑interest private loans. If you're a beneficiary or planning to apply, keep an eye on the official NELFUND X account for batch schedules and ensure your institution has confirmed receipt before spending the funds.
