News New terror group Mamudawa kills four in Kebbi Published on April 7, 2026 By Amos Tauna Several communities in the Shanga area of Kebbi State have been attacked by a new terrorist group known as Mamudawa, resulting in the deaths of four people. On Sunday and Monday, the assailants invaded communities in the Gebbe District of Shanga Local Government Area. A source told DAILY POST that the attackers came from Wawa Forest in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State and carried out assaults, setting some buildings ablaze in Kalkami, Tungar Bori, and Kawara communities during the attack. According to him, “The terrorists burnt down Kawara village on Monday. Shanga Local Government Area has come under persistent attacks by bandits, cattle rustlers, and kidnappers seeking ransom payments in recent times.” He explained that the real number of deaths in the attack was yet to be ascertained, but alleged that about four persons were killed by the bandits. The Vice Chairman of Shanga Local Government Area, Adamu Hamza Gebbe, confirmed the incident to newsmen, noting that it was not the first time the area had been attacked. The District Head of Gebbe, Alhaji Haruna Usman, while confirming the incident, said that residents of the affected communities had fled following the attacks. He added that some people are currently taking refuge in Gungu, while others remain in the forests for safety. Confirming the attack in a statement, the Kebbi State Police Command explained that the assaults on Gebbe, Kawara, Kalkami, and nearby villages in Shanga Local Government Area were carried out by the Mamudawa terrorist group. The command’s spokesman, SP Bashir Usman, said that the attackers took advantage of the wetland terrain, stressing that parts of the communities were set on fire and lives were tragically lost.
