Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Akeem Ishola Busari as the new Flamingos head coach, replacing long-serving Bankole Olowookere. Olowookere previously led the team to third position at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India. Busari currently coaches NWFL side Pacesetters Queens of Ibadan, bringing experience from the domestic league to the national team. The Flamingos will face either Niger or Guinea in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup second qualifying round next month, with Morocco hosting the competition later this year. This coaching change comes as Nigeria prepares for another World Cup campaign in the women's youth category, following their strong showing in the previous tournament. The appointment signals NFF's focus on developing women's football talent at the youth level.
