NGX's 25 SWOOT stocks lost N11.97 trillion in market value in June 2026, falling 8.21% from N145.74 trillion in May to N133.78 trillion. The drop reflects profit-taking after months of gains, plus foreign-exchange volatility, high interest rates, portfolio rebalancing and sector-specific regulatory pressures. Airtel Africa was the only heavyweight to gain, adding N4.28 trillion, while Nestle Nigeria, Presco, Transcorp Hotels and Transcorp Power held steady. The biggest losses came from Dangote Cement (-N3.66 trillion, -18.39%), BUA Cement (-N2.70 trillion, -19.0%), Aradel Holdings (-N2.24 trillion, -26.7%) and MTN Nigeria (-N2.10 trillion, -12.2%). Banks, consumer goods and power stocks also slid sharply, with Wema Bank down 22.39% and Geregu Power off 18.99%. Despite the June slide, the combined SWOOT market cap remains well above the N86.43 trillion recorded in December 2025, showing the six-month gain is still intact.

Will you lock in profits now, shift to fixed-income assets, or wait for a possible rebound as interest rates and FX stabilise?
