Nigeria sends UK passport team to help diaspora with applications
The Nigeria Immigration Service will deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom starting today, 10 August 2026, as directed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The team will work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK to process pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians living there. It will also travel to designated cities across the UK to conduct enrolment, allowing applicants to avoid travelling to a single centre. Eligible applicants include those with pending applications, first‑time applicants and holders of passports with less than one year left before expiry who wish to renew. Applicants must bring completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment. The detailed schedule - cities, dates, venues and times - will be announced separately; the NIS urges Nigerians in the UK not to go to any location until the official schedule is released. Digital passport channels, the Contactless Passport Application System and home‑delivery service will remain operational throughout the intervention.
