Nigeria to host Gulf of Guinea maritime task force, pledge support
Nigeria will host the Combined Maritime Task Force for the Gulf of Guinea and provide infrastructure including office buildings, ships, helicopters, and temporary personnel to combat transnational organized crime and enhance regional maritime security. This commitment was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 39th AU Summit, where he also advocated for stronger African coordination on security threats, debt distress, and mineral exploitation. Nigeria will support the African Standby Force and push for the African Court of Justice activation and African Parliament protocol ratification.
