Leicester City confirms Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo will return to Southampton after his loan spell expires, following the club's relegation to League One. The 29-year-old Super Eagles player joined Leicester on loan from Southampton but won't extend his stay after the Foxes dropped to England's third tier.

Aribo, who still has a contract at St Mary's until June 2026, initially joined Leicester to help stabilize the club during a turbulent season. The Nigerian international reportedly declined to continue playing in League One at this stage of his career. Leicester confirmed the departure alongside 10 other senior players as the club begins a major rebuild.

The former Rangers midfielder joined Southampton in 2022 and remains an important figure in the Nigerian national team. With the summer transfer window approaching, Aribo is expected to attract interest from Premier League and European clubs, particularly given his experience at top level and international pedigree.
