Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis joins UAE's Al Jazira from Göztepe

Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis has signed for UAE Pro League club Al Jazira, leaving Turkish side Göztepe after three years. Al Jazira announced the transfer on its official X account on August 24, 2026, confirming Dennis as a resident player.

The 22‑year‑old arrived at Göztepe in January 2023 from HB Academy Abuja, first playing for the U‑19 team before earning a senior debut in a 1–1 draw against Çorum on January 27, 2024. He was promoted to the first team, extended his Göztepe contract until 2027 in May 2024, and made 83 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Dennis was also a former Super Eagles invitee.

His move to Al Jazira offers a fresh challenge in the UAE’s top flight and could increase his visibility to national team selectors. With Göztepe now settled in the Süper Lig, the transfer raises the question: Will regular minutes at Al Jazira cement Dennis’s place in the Super Eagles setup, or will he need to prove himself further abroad to earn a recall?
