The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will contest the 2027 general election and seek to reclaim mandates taken by defectors, according to National Leader Nyesom Wike. This signals the party's intent to remain a major player despite recent losses.

In a major political shift, former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP's 2023 presidential candidate, has formally resigned from the party, citing a need for broader realignment. The NNPP's founder, Boniface Aniebonam, immediately countered that the party is not part of Kwankwaso's planned defection to the ADC, creating confusion within the opposition bloc.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed mobile networks to directly compensate subscribers for service disruptions, moving from fines to consumer restitution.
