Nigerian fine art photographer Mavic Chijioke Okeugo presents 'Where Light Learns Our Faces', a solo exhibition opening Sunday, January 18, 2026, at The African Centre in London. The show begins with an invitation-only private view at 2:00 PM (GMT), followed by a public opening.

The exhibition features a meditative series of portraits exploring identity, presence, and the relationship between light and the human face. Okeugo uses illumination not just as a photographic tool but as an active collaborator in capturing emotional nuance, vulnerability, and interior stillness. The work centers Black subjects with attentiveness, resisting extractive modes of viewing and inviting reflection on how faces carry memory and transformation.

This marks an important moment in Okeugo's practice, presenting a cohesive collection that encourages viewers to slow down and approach portraiture as an exchange rooted in presence. For Nigerians in London or interested in contemporary African photography, this offers insight into how visual artists are shaping global conversations on identity and representation.
