Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise have raised complaints about poor services provided by Mashariq Dhabiya service provider in Mina and Arafat. Pilgrims report that meals have largely remained the same with Jollof rice being the major dish, lacking variety and Nigerian dishes typically available under previous service providers. Some pilgrims also expressed dissatisfaction with limited food portions. Accommodation concerns include provision of mattresses and beddings without blankets.

These issues affect the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims during the spiritually demanding Hajj rites. The poor services come as Saudi Arabia enforces strict food safety standards due to extreme temperatures (up to 47°C). The complaints are generating discussions among stakeholders about the need for improved welfare services, particularly concerning feeding and comfort conditions that could impact pilgrims' health and overall Hajj experience.

NAHCON officials confirmed that some dinner meals from May 27 did not meet required handling and packaging standards and were rejected immediately in collaboration with NAHCON. Alternative light refreshments were provided to cushion the situation. NAHCON Board members have explained the situation to affected State managers. Pilgrims acknowledged logistical challenges but appealed for improvements in subsequent arrangements. Potential future pilgrims may want to consider service provider reviews when making Hajj arrangements.
