Nigerian troops foil terror bid, rescue 21 Borno students, arrest suspects

Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI foiled a terrorist attempt to overrun a military base in Logomani, Borno State, early today, using CCTV to spot ISWAP/JAS militants and forcing them to retreat. As a precaution, soldiers evacuated 21 female students from a nearby hostel in Monguno to Kinnasara Barracks; three students suffered seizures during the move but were stabilised at a hospital. In Borno’s Monguno area, troops also intercepted seven suspected insurgents with IEDs near an IDP camp, prompting the precautionary move. Elsewhere, troops and local hunters clashed with militants in Askira/Uba, Borno, recovering abandoned bicycles and coolers; arrested a suspected cross-border kidnapper in Adamawa’s Mubi South LGA who confessed to working from Cameroon’s Solere Forest; and repelled attackers along Kebbi’s Wasagu–Ayu Road, leaving two abandoned motorcycles. Similar operations in Zamfara saw air strikes on bandit camps and the arrest of a soldier accused of supplying uniforms to terrorists.

These actions show the military’s ongoing push to protect civilians and disrupt terrorist logistics across the North-East and North-West.
