Nigeria's crude oil output rises 0.4% to 1.68 million barrels daily in August

Nigeria's crude oil output rose 0.4% to 1.68 million barrels per day in August 2026, marking the fourth straight month of meeting OPEC quotas. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission reported strict crude production (excluding condensate) at 1.5 million barrels daily, with production ranging from 1.64 to 1.71 million barrels per day during the month.

Bonny Terminal led output at 320,040 barrels daily, followed closely by Forcados at 317,400 barrels. Qua Iboe, Escravos, and Bonga terminals contributed 171,720; 131,710; and 92,500 barrels per day respectively. The modest increase stemmed from resolving Single Buoy Mooring challenges at the Erha field that had hampered July production.

NUPRC noted stable operations across most assets as producers maintained efficiency measures and asset integrity protocols. Industry stakeholders remain focused on enhancing reliability, resilience, and intervention programs to support continued growth.
