Nigeria's envoy presents credentials to Somalia's President, affirming bilateral ties
Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Somalia, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim, presented his Letters of Credence to Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at Villa Somalia in Mogadishu on August 26, 2026. The ceremony, confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, formalizes Ibrahim’s concurrent accreditation to both Kenya and Somalia.
During the presentation, Ibrahim conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s greetings and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Somalia, particularly in areas of trade, security, and diaspora engagement.
This diplomatic move signals Nigeria’s continued interest in the Horn of Africa, where Somalia faces ongoing political and humanitarian challenges. For Nigerians, the development may facilitate easier visa processes, increased trade opportunities, and enhanced consular support for the Nigerian community residing in Somalia.
