Nigeria's inflation eased to 15.10 percent in January 2026 from 15.15 percent in December 2025, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The CPI declined 3.8 percentage points to 127.4 in January, reflecting disinflation. Food inflation also eased to 8.89 percent from 10.84 percent the previous month. NBS noted the headline inflation rate decreased by 0.05 percentage points month-on-month. Despite the easing, Nigerians continue to express concerns about rising living costs nationwide. Experts question whether the inflation figures reflect actual economic conditions, with some suggesting the government may consider interest rate cuts as inflation eases.
