PenCom reports Nigeria's pension fund assets rose N10.7 trillion over two years, jumping from N20.79 trillion in July 2024 to N31.48 trillion in July 2026 - a 51.3% increase. Director-General Omolola Oloworaran disclosed this Tuesday, crediting growth to 938,229 new Contributory Pension Scheme enrollees and improved investment returns.

The Federal Government cleared N758 billion in inherited pension liabilities dating back to 2007 via intervention bond. Monthly pension payments for over 241,000 retirees increased from N12.15 billion to N14.83 billion. Treasury-funded MDAs now offer a 100% annual emolument exit benefit (effective Jan 2026), with 175 retirees receiving ~N1.1 billion so far.

PenCom slashed retirement approvals from 21 months to 48 hours. New initiatives include the PenCare Health Programme (free healthcare for 30,000 low-income retirees pilot) and a Minimum Pension Guarantee. Unaudited August 2026 data shows assets at N31.8 trillion, with RSA membership exceeding 11.3 million.

Will you complete your pension verification before the December 2026 deadline to access these strengthened benefits and new retirement initiatives?
