Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna's participation in Nigeria's Unity Cup campaign hangs in the balance as his Swedish club AIK decides whether to release him despite receiving Nigeria's official invitation. The 21-year-old has been a breakout star for AIK this season, registering 2 goals and 3 assists in just 7 league appearances, establishing himself as one of the club's most influential players.

AIK recruitment manager Miika Takkula confirmed the club will review Nigeria's invitation today and tomorrow, claiming they have the legal right to retain Yohanna because the Unity Cup falls outside FIFA's official international calendar. 'We have every right to keep him here,' Takkula stated. The Swedish club has matches that could conflict with the tournament dates.

Nigeria enters the tournament as defending champions and faces Zimbabwe in the semi-final on Tuesday, 26 May. Coach Eric Chelle views Yohanna as an exciting attacking option for his rebuilding squad, hoping to integrate several emerging players. Nigeria's squad planning is complicated by uncertainty over whether one of their most promising young wingers will be available for their title defense.
