Nine Super Falcons have reported to the team’s camp in Ikenne as Nigeria began preparations for the 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros. The early arrivals—Farida AbdulWahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Joy Igbokwe, Fatimoh Solaty, Christiana Uzoma, Blessing Nkor, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet and Sandra John—give interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen his first group to work with. Eguavoen had previously invited 28 players for the double‑header, with established stars such as captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre and Monday Gift expected to join later in the week.

The Super Falcons will host Comoros in the first leg on Friday, 9 October 2026, with the return leg four days later on 13 October. This Olympic qualifier takes on added importance after Nigeria’s disappointing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which ended without the anticipated success and also saw the country miss out on qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in history. A strong start against Comoros is seen as the first step to rebuild confidence and keep Nigeria’s Olympic hopes alive.

For fans, the key dates to note are 9 and 13 October for the home‑and‑away ties. The cohesion between the younger players already in camp and the senior stars due to arrive will be watched closely, as Eguavoen aims to blend experience with youth while ensuring tactical readiness. Will the early camp unity and returning firepower be enough to secure a strong start against Comoros and revive Nigeria’s Olympic aspirations?
