NNL sets mandatory requirements for clubs ahead of 2026/27 season kickoff Oct 31

NNL has issued a memo signed by COO Danlami Alanana outlining mandatory requirements for clubs seeking to register for the 2026/2027 season, which kicks off Saturday, October 31, 2026. Clubs must comply with NFF licensing regulations, provide proof of non-indebtedness to players and coaches for sign-on fees, salaries and allowances, and submit signed copies of players' and officials' contracts. They must also settle all outstanding fines, cautions or registration fees owed to the league from previous seasons and obtain clearance from the NFF Arbitration Committee if any financial obligations remain. Additionally, each club is required to furnish a mandatory ₦20 million guarantee to demonstrate commitment to completing the season. Clubs with unresolved debts will be barred from registration until they present the required clearance.

These requirements aim to strengthen financial discipline in the league, protect players' wages and ensure that only solvent clubs compete, which could affect fan attendance and club competitiveness.
