NNPC commissions Smart Self-Service Station, promises transparent fuel pricing
NNPC Limited has commissioned its first Smart Self-Service Station, a facility that combines self-service fuelling with digital payments and additional energy solutions including electric vehicle charging, LPG and CNG. Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari said the station delivers transparent pricing, accurate fuel dispensing and secure digital transactions, and serves as a proof of concept for NNPC’s broader transformation agenda under the 'Fit-for-Future' pillars of Enterprise-First Mindset, Execution Excellence, Profitable Growth and Partner of Choice.
The Smart Station reflects NNPC’s push to become a customer-centric, digitally enabled energy company. It uses real-time monitoring of transactions and equipment performance, dedicated maintenance and customer-support processes, and built-in controls to ensure pricing accuracy, proper dispensing calibration and payment security. Ojulari emphasized that the company will refine the system using operational data and direct customer feedback before scaling.
Nigerians can expect the model to be rolled out in structured phases nationwide, with expansion guided by customer demand, location readiness and the availability of the various energy solutions in each area. NNPC intends to move with urgency while ensuring the rollout is sustainable and durable, learning from this initial deployment to replicate a model that works rather than one that will need rebuilding.
Will you welcome self-service pumps and digital payments at your local filling station, or do you prefer attending staff for fuel purchases?
