NNPP elected Bala Yunusa Mohammed as its new National Chairman today, replacing Dr. Ajuji Ahmed who resigned to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The announcement came in a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Ladipo Johnson, who described Bala as an astute administrator and former National Organizing Secretary with 'tactical brilliance' and commitment to grassroots ideology.

The party framed this leadership change as critical amid national challenges, stating Nigerians face 'unprecedented economic hardship, spiraling inflation, and pervasive insecurity' alongside what they call a 'coordinated assault on democracy' through 'judicial warfare' and internal crises targeting opposition parties. NNPP positioned Bala as a leader who understands these 'perilous times' and can steer the party toward the 2027 general elections.

With Ajuji now in ADC and Bala leading NNPP, two opposition parties have undergone recent leadership shifts. NNPP declared itself 'a sanctuary for the hopes of the common man' and called on members to 'fortify our ranks' for what they described as a 'marathon' to 2027. The party expressed confidence that under Bala's leadership, they will offer Nigerians the governance they 'truly deserve' while countering forces of regression.

Will this unified opposition stance gain traction against the ruling party amid Nigeria's current economic and security struggles?
