The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement, noting that a combined team of security agencies has successfully stabilised the area after days of tension. According to the statement, the violence erupted after some individuals allegedly took the law into their own hands, carrying out reprisal attacks over the reported killing of their kinsmen last Thursday in Udege Kasa and Akyawa communities. The attacks resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed Jauro, ordered an intensive manhunt for those responsible for the violence. “The Command has directed tactical teams and investigative units to ensure the prompt identification, arrest, and prosecution of all perpetrators involved in these criminal acts,” the statement disclosed. Meanwhile, at a stakeholders’ meeting held in the affected area, Jauro appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding, urging them to cooperate with security agencies. “We call on members of the public to support ongoing investigations by providing credible information that will aid efforts to restore lasting peace in the communities,” he added. Security presence, according to the police, will remain in the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
