Northern protesters have declared they will not vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. In a video published September 12, 2026, a spokesperson who said he travelled from Kaduna to join the protest stated, “We are here strongly to say we are not going to vote for Tinubu. Tinubu must go.” He cited rising insecurity in Zamfara, Sokoto and other Northern states as a key reason for the opposition.

The spokesperson also accused Tinubu of never visiting areas affected by violence, saying, “We have never ever seen Tinubu come for visiting.” He further alleged that an aircraft carried out a deliberate attack on a gathering for Eid-el-Maulud in Zaria, claiming the incident showed Tinubu’s hatred for the Arewa people. In addition to speaking, he said he was at the protest to translate statements from Arabic into English and Hausa for fellow demonstrators.
