Northern Senators condemn Benue/Kaduna attacks, urge community security cooperation

In Benue, an early Tuesday July 28 attack on Efeyi Community in Ugboju, Otukpo LGA left 13 dead and several injured. In Kaduna, a Sunday July 26 assault on Naridon Village, Kamaru Ward, Kauru LGA claimed about 30 lives including women and children, destroying homes. The Northern Senators Forum expressed sympathy and welcomed Tinubu's approval of army expansion to 12 divisions plus 28,000 recruits, calling it timely for national security coverage.

The Forum stressed this expansion needs proper equipment, logistics and welfare for personnel to be effective. They urged communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information and demanded swift apprehension of perpetrators plus adequate support for victims and displaced persons. Lasting peace requires coordinated action, better intelligence and sustained security investment.
