Norway, Ukraine Sign Drone Production Deal
Norway and Ukraine have signed an agreement for joint production of Ukrainian drones in Norway, signed in Kyiv by Norway's Ambassador to Ukraine, Lars Hansen, and Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister, Sergiy Boyev. The Ukrainian manufacturer expects first Norwegian-produced systems to be delivered to Ukraine before this summer, according to Norway's Ministry of Defence statement.
This cooperation marks "an important and concrete step" toward deeper Norwegian-Ukrainian defence cooperation, according to Norwegian Defence Ministry official Tore Sandvik. The agreement goes beyond just drone production to facilitate broader bilateral industrial cooperation, including strengthening supply chains and establishing joint research and development initiatives.
The deal represents ongoing international support for Ukraine's defense industry through production partnerships, with Norway providing manufacturing infrastructure while Ukrainian companies supply technical expertise and designs. This model of international cooperation could potentially be replicated for other defense technologies in the future.
