NSCDC sanctions 79 officers, arrests 12 suspects in crackdown on misconduct and vandalism
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for professional misconduct and arrested 12 suspects linked to infrastructure vandalism and illegal arms dealing. Investigations concluded for 75 officers—including an Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 senior officers, and 37 junior officers—over offences such as job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave, and acts prejudicial to state security. Sanctions include dismissal, compulsory retirement, and recommendation for criminal prosecution. A specific case from February 18, 2026, in Rafin Gabas, Kokona LGA, Nasarawa involving Mining Marshals Location Commander Levi Agada’s death, led to the dismissal and prosecution recommendation for officers Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran.
Four personnel are undergoing disciplinary proceedings by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad alongside the Nigerian Army over alleged illegal arms dealing: Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi (Enugu), Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna (Ebonyi), Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson (Ebonyi), and Superintendent Achor Favour (Nasarawa) for alleged mistreatment of a teenage domestic helper. Nine suspects were arrested for illegal firearm and ammunition trade: Friday Nnanna Ujor (51), Chika Sampson Nwozaku (48), Nnanna Ujor Chinasa (45), Nnanna Fountain, Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu, and three NSCDC officers named above. Additionally, six suspected vandals were apprehended with a trailerload of railway sleepers concealed in a blue DAF truck (registration ZAR 618 XT) at Sabon Wuse on July 25, 2026. A two‑man syndicate, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, was arrested for electrical and cable vandalism in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT.
All sanctioned officers and suspects retain constitutional rights to due process. The NSCDC emphasized that these actions do not reflect the integrity of the majority of its personnel and urged the public to remain vigilant and share actionable intelligence to safeguard national security.
