The Obidient Movement has directed all its members to register with the Nigerian Democratic Congress following Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso's defection from the African Democratic Congress. In a statement signed by National Director Yunusa Tanko, the movement called this transition a "strategic need for national renewal" that requires a united political platform.

Movement members should proceed with registration at their respective wards, with a digital membership platform established for Nigerians both at home and abroad. The registration process is part of the movement's continued dedication to building a "New Nigeria founded on accountability, competence, and service to the populace."

This political realignment represents a significant shift for the Obidient Movement ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, as it consolidates around the NDC platform after Obi and Kwankwaso's joint departure from the ADC. Will this realignment position the NDC as a stronger contender against established parties, or will it create internal power struggles as the movement adapts to its new political home?
