Ogun State seeks global investment at UNGA side event
Ogun State presented its investment case at a side event of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on October 5, 2026. Dr. Bayo Adenekan, Special Adviser to the Governor on Development Partners Coordination, said the state is strategically positioned to attract domestic and international investment through its growing industrial clusters, infrastructure development, agricultural potential and business‑friendly reforms under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration. He highlighted partnership opportunities in agriculture, infrastructure, innovation, climate and green financing, youth empowerment and artificial intelligence, stressing that sustained collaboration between government, investors and development institutions is essential to unlock Ogun’s economic potential and create jobs for young people.
Adenekan noted that the engagement showcased Ogun’s vision anchored on the ISEYA pillars and its expanding industrial ecosystem. As part of the event, he handed a copy of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration’s achievements brochure to Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, who pledged to make the publication available as a reference document at the UN headquarters, Nigeria Office and the Permanent Mission, and as a guide to investment opportunities in Ogun State.
Other speakers, including Chief Kunle Yusuff of the CSCHEI, emphasized Nigeria’s evolving climate‑governance framework and the revitalisation of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, saying stronger climate‑financing architecture could draw green bonds, carbon‑credit investments and climate‑adaptation financing.
The Ogun delegation used the platform to position the state as a destination for sustainable investment, innovation and inclusive economic growth within the global conversation on SDGs and climate finance.
