Ole Gunnar Solskjaer linked with Ipswich Town manager role for 2026-27 season
Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being considered for the Ipswich Town manager vacancy, according to the BBC. The 53‑year‑old last coached Turkish side Beşiktaş and was passed over for a return to Old Trafford last season when United appointed Michael Carrick as permanent head coach.
Interestingly, the current Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna worked on Solskjaer’s United coaching staff between 2018 and 2021, helping the club finish runners‑up in the 2020‑21 Premier League. McKenna left United in December 2021 to take charge of Ipswich, guiding them to promotion and now a top‑flight spot.
If Solskjaer takes the job, it would mark his first Premier League role since his United sacking in 2021 and reunite him with a former assistant now sitting in the opposite dugout. The move would also add another high‑profile name to Ipswich’s backroom as they aim to consolidate their PL status.
Would you welcome Solskjaer’s return to the English top flight, or do you think his time at United shows he’s better suited elsewhere?
