A new administration has officially commenced at the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), as Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola assumes office as the substantive Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. Omojola formally took over the mantle of leadership this week following the successful completion of the tenure of the institution's pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, whose term expired on January 6, 2026.

The transition marks a significant milestone for the university, signaling the beginning of the second substantive administration since the institution was upgraded from a College of Education to a University status.

The appointment of Prof. Omojola was approved and announced by the Ekiti State Governor and Visitor to the University, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, on November 24, 2025. The early announcement was designed to facilitate a smooth transition process and ensure administrative continuity at the burgeoning institution.

In his charge to the new Vice-Chancellor, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the need to consolidate the gains made by the pioneer administration. The Governor has mandated Prof. Omojola to deploy his wealth of experience to reposition BOUESTI as a world-class citadel of learning, with a specific focus on academic excellence, research innovation, and technological advancement.

Before his appointment to lead BOUESTI, Prof. Omojola was a senior academic heavyweight at the University of Ibadan (UI), where he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

He is a distinguished Professor of Animal Science with a specialization in Animal Products and Processing/Food Safety. His academic career at Nigeria’s premier university began in 1997, rising through the ranks to become a Professor in 2011. He is widely published and holds memberships in several prestigious professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science and the American Meat Science Association.

Stakeholders in the education sector and members of the university community have expressed high optimism regarding Omojola’s tenure. His track record of administrative competence at the University of Ibadan is expected to be a vital asset in driving BOUESTI’s strategic goals of producing employable graduates and fostering global academic partnerships.

As he settles into office, the university community looks forward to a tenure characterized by infrastructural growth, staff welfare improvement, and sustained academic stability.
