The platform runs more than 5,000 real‑time monitoring and blocking rules and uses over 10,000 risk‑feature profiles to spot unusual behaviour. OPay claims the system keeps its transaction fraud rate under 0.001 %. To stop identity fraud, the firm has strengthened digital ID verification and live facial detection, saying it has blocked more than one million fake identities and stops tens of thousands of impersonation attempts each day. AI models and intelligent agents analyse customer and transaction data to flag abnormal account activity early; when risk is confirmed, transactions can be intercepted and accounts suspended. OPay also stresses that strong compliance needs skilled staff, clear internal controls, continuous monitoring, training and solid governance. The company argues that a safer payments ecosystem raises confidence in digital finance, protects legitimate businesses, curbs financial crime and supports financial inclusion because trusted services encourage more Nigerians to use formal channels for everyday payments and money management.
