OPay Scholars: ₦1.2B Scholarship Expands Beyond Financial Aid to Career Development
Sponsored content: OPay has committed ₦1.2 billion over 10 years to support outstanding and indigent students across more than 20 tertiary institutions nationwide. One year into the initiative, over 1,000 beneficiaries report parents no longer borrowing for school fees and having more time for studies instead of part-time work.
For 2026, OPay is expanding beyond tuition support with "OPay Scholars," introducing OPay Futures and a National Innovation Challenge where students can propose solutions to real-world problems. The 2026 edition also includes webinars, bootcamps with industry experts, and a structured career development pathway culminating in OPay's second annual Empowering Futures Conference.
By combining financial aid with mentorship and opportunities, OPay is positioning education as both a safety net and springboard for Nigerian students. With thousands already benefiting from the first year's impact, the expanded program aims to actively shape Nigeria's future workforce through direct industry exposure and innovation support.
