Orban scores, assists as Amedspor thrash Eyupspor 5-1 to go second in Turkey

Gift Orban continued his sensational form with a goal and assist as Amedspor crushed Eyupspor 5-1 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday. The 24-year-old Nigerian struck a brilliant left-footed finish for the second goal in the 35th minute, then turned provider for Samuel Ballet's strike three minutes before halftime. Ballet completed a hat-trick with two more second-half goals but was sent off in stoppage time for violent conduct.

Orban now has nine goals and four assists in just ten appearances across all competitions this season—a staggering return that has Amedspor sitting second in the table, two points behind leaders Galatasaray, with an eight-game unbeaten run intact. Ermal Krasniqi opened the scoring for the hosts inside 13 minutes with Rayan Lutin providing the assist.

The former Bodo/Glimt striker is making a serious case for Super Eagles consideration with this purple patch in Turkey. With Nigeria's striking options under scrutiny, will Orban's Turkish league dominance finally force a national team call-up, or will he remain overlooked despite the numbers?
