Adams Oshiomhole, senator for Edo North, clarified on TVC Tuesday that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike supports President Bola Tinubu's re-election but remains unaffiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This comes after Wike reportedly described some APC governors as 'politically lazy' in a separate interview.

Oshiomhole emphasized that despite not being an APC member, Wike has repeatedly stated his support for Tinubu, aligning with APC governors who are also committed to the president's re-election bid. He noted he has heard no credible opposition to Tinubu's second term from either camp.

The clarification reveals a split between personal loyalty to Tinubu and party allegiance ahead of 2027 elections. With Wike controlling Abuja's infrastructure and resources, his stance could influence federal allocations and political calculations nationwide.

Does Wike's independent support for Tinubu signal a new model of political backing beyond party structures, or will APC pressure eventually bring him into the fold?
