Osifo contested Tinubu to ensure Nigeria gets better - APC aspirant
APC presidential aspirant Stanley Osifo has revealed he contested against President Bola Tinubu in Saturday's primary election to ensure Nigeria gets better and deepen democracy within the party. Tinubu secured a landslide victory and accepted his nomination as APC presidential candidate for 2027 elections on Sunday.
Appearing on Arise News after defeat, Osifo emphasized 'in APC no one is a loser' and stressed his motivation was to 'ensure that Nigeria gets better and that Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy.' He highlighted that 'the party is supreme' and loyalty to the party is crucial.
Osifo scored just one vote in his own ward, though he dismissed suggestions this indicated dislike from his people, stating 'for every action there are reasons.' The election came amid what Osifo described as 'a lot of intrigues' but maintained the process was internal and party-focused.
With 2027 elections approaching, this signals internal party dynamics that could influence the general election landscape, as APC consolidates behind Tinubu while potentially facing challenges from other parties and internal dissent.
