Osimhen scored twice to rescue Galatasaray from defeat as they were held to a 2-2 draw by newly promoted Çorum in the opening day of the 2026/27 Süper Lig season at RAMS Park. The Nigerian striker broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a delicate chip over goalkeeper Marcos Felipe after a Lucas Torreira through ball, then completed his brace with a powerful header from a Gabriel Sara corner in the 90th minute to make it 2-2.

Çorum had taken a surprising 2-1 lead through Alexandros Kyziridis' long-range effort (59th minute) and Jesús Ramírez capitalizing on a defensive mistake from Davinson Sánchez (61st minute), before Kyziridis was sent off for a reckless challenge seven minutes later. Galatasaray dominated possession but looked vulnerable defensively throughout, with Okan Buruk introducing İlkay Gündoğan, Eren Elmalı and Kaan Ayhan off the bench to chase the equalizer.

The result represents an early warning for Galatasaray's title defence ambitions, particularly with Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor expected to challenge. Their next test comes away to another newly promoted side, Erzurumspor. Will Osimhen's firepower be enough if the defence doesn't sharpen up for the challenges ahead?
