Osimhen fails to score as Barcelona thrash Galatasaray 4-1 in Champions League
Victor Osimhen did not find the net on his first start after injury as Galatasaray suffered a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Aleksey Batrakov gave the Turkish side an early lead, but a Galatasaray goal was later disallowed after VAR review. Barcelona responded with goals from Joao Cancelo, Fermin Lopez, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi to secure the victory. Barcelona are now top of the Champions League, having won every fixture they have played this season.
The result leaves Galatasaray in 34th place in the competition, while Barcelona top the group. For Nigerian fans, Osimhen’s quiet outing raises questions about his sharpness ahead of the Super Eagles’ upcoming fixtures, especially after his recent layoff. The striker will look to regain form when Galatasaray host Genclerbirligi in the Turkish league this Saturday.
Will Osimhen bounce back in Saturday’s league match, or should the Super Eagles coaching staff consider alternative attacking options given his current struggle to regain match fitness?
