Oyedele New Finance Minister, Vows Economic Reform to Result
Taiwo Oyedele formally assumed office as Nigeria's Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy on Friday, following Tuesday's cabinet reshuffle that removed Wale Edun. Oyedele previously served as minister of state for finance and chaired the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee.
The finance minister outlined strategic priorities including productivity and growth, fiscal discipline, revenue optimization, and fair taxation. He emphasized moving from 'reform to result' to accelerate Nigeria's economic growth, with focus on policy coherence, consistency, and clarity.
Oyedele pledged stronger government coordination across all institutions and deeper public-private partnerships. The ministry will prioritize disciplined implementation, accountability, and measurable results rather than just policy design.
Nigerians should expect continued economic reform with emphasis on execution, as the finance ministry aims to translate stabilizing measures into tangible benefits for all citizens while maintaining prudent management of public resources.
