PDP: Abdulrahman Mohammed Remains Legit National Chairman After Supreme Court Ruling
PDP dismisses reports of leadership vacuum following Thursday's Supreme Court judgment, declaring Abdulrahman Mohammed remains the party's legitimate national chairman. National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed stated this Friday at a news conference in Abuja, clarifying that the Supreme Court ruling dealt solely with the legality of the Ibadan convention and did not affect the current National Working Committee.
The party emphasized that the judgment neither upheld any suspension nor expulsion of party officers, as these issues were never before any court level. PDP maintains its leadership structure remains intact, lawful, and fully operational under Mohammed and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.
Mohammed dismissed claims of a Board of Trustees takeover as unconstitutional and urged Sen. Adolphus Wabara to stop making statements on behalf of PDP, calling his tenure as BoT chairman expired. The party also cautioned media against reporting PDP as factionalized, stating the group led by Kabiru Turaki and Wabara is a rejected group. Will other political parties recognize PDP's current leadership structure as legitimate, or will this legal uncertainty affect upcoming elections?
