PDP's interim NEC approved the 2026 pre-election timetable and nomination guidelines, with expression of interest and nomination forms on sale from May 5 to May 13, 2026. Completed forms must be submitted by May 14, followed by aspirant screening (May 15-18), appeals (May 21), and publication of cleared aspirants on May 22. Ward primaries occur May 27, with appeals on primaries May 28, NEC approval of nominated candidates May 29, and special convention for ratification May 30.

Presidential aspirants pay N10 million for expression of interest and N90 million for nomination forms, totaling N100 million. Women pay only expression of interest fees, while youths and people living with disabilities pay 50% of nomination fees for their chosen office. Costs for other offices include: House of Assembly (N500,000 EOI, N1.5m nomination), House of Representatives (N2m EOI, N5m nomination), Senate (N3m EOI, N7m nomination), and Governorship (N5m EOI, N35m nomination).

This timetable gives aspirants exactly two weeks to purchase materials and plan campaigns, with clear deadlines for each stage. Will you budget N100m for a presidential bid, or focus on other offices where fees are lower? The exemptions for women, youths, and PWDs may reshape aspirant demographics across party primaries nationwide.
