PDP Board of Trustees led by Adolphus Wabara summoned emergency National Executive Committee meeting for Monday (today), May 4, 2026. The decision aims to prevent leadership vacuum following Supreme Court judgment that nullified the 2025 national convention and upheld suspensions of key party members.

Wabara announced they secured required two-thirds support of NEC members and notified INEC of the 103rd NEC meeting. He emphasized unity and rebuilding the party, stating the board assumed administrative leadership after the court ruling that prevented a constitutional crisis.

However, PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed dismissed leadership vacuum claims, insisting Abdulrahman Mohammed remains legitimate national chairman. He argued the Supreme Court ruling addressed only Ibadan convention legality and questioned Wabara's authority as BoT chairman, claiming his tenure expired and Mao Ohuabunwa heads the legitimate BoT.

This power struggle comes at critical time as Nigeria approaches 2027 elections with major opposition party in disarray. Will this internal crisis strengthen or weaken PDP's position against ruling parties?
