Board of Trustees formally assumes PDP leadership today following Supreme Court judgment that invalidated the party's November 2025 convention. The ruling declared all actions by suspended officials Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Hon. Umar Bature, and Kamaldeen Ajibade as illegal and void—including the appointment of acting chairman and Abuja convention.

With both leadership structures invalidated, the BoT stepped in under Section 32(5) of the party's constitution to prevent leadership vacuum. All PDP staff ordered to resume work under BoT supervision while emergency NEC meeting prepares to appoint Interim National Working Committee.

Timeline pressure intensifies with 2027 general elections approaching. The BoT calls for unity, noting 'PDP has suffered enough' and urging members to 'sheathe swords' for Nigerian people's sake. Will this constitutional intervention stabilize the party or deepen internal divisions ahead of elections?
