PDP chieftain Pearse denies leadership crisis after Supreme Court upholds Anyanwu expulsion
PDP chieftain Dr Adetokunbo Pearse stated Saturday on Arise Television's Morning Show that there is no leadership crisis in the party, despite recent legal challenges. Pearse explained that while the Supreme Court rejected the validity of the Ibadan convention, it upheld the expulsion of Sam Anyanwu and others, effectively removing Anyanwu from party membership.
This ruling leaves the Turaki-led faction without legitimate standing within PDP, as Anyanwu's expulsion clears a major obstacle to party unity. With national elections on the horizon, this development clarifies PDP's internal leadership structure ahead of crucial political contests.
Per the party constitution, the Board of Trustees will now serve as the National Working Committee and has until Monday May 3 to nominate a temporary leadership team to guide PDP into the election period. The BOT's decision will determine who steers Nigeria's main opposition party through upcoming campaigns.
How will BOT's choice of temporary leadership influence PDP's election readiness and affect your perception of Nigeria's opposition strength?
