Peter Obi begs NDC aspirants to accept primary election results
Peter Obi has appealed to NDC presidential aspirants who lost in the party's primaries to accept the results in good faith as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. The former Anambra state governor made this appeal at NDC's second National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on June 4, 2026.
Obi acknowledged the NDC is a young political organization that has made remarkable progress within a short period, successfully conducting congresses, conventions and primaries within about 90 days. He urged party members to put aside grievances from the primaries and focus on building a credible political platform to address Nigeria's challenges.
"I want to sincerely appeal to all our aspirants who participated in the primaries to accept the outcomes in good faith. In every democratic process, there will be winners and there will be those who do not succeed," Obi said. What matters is how the party moves forward after the primary process to achieve electoral success in 2027.
