Peter Obi insists he's not desperate for presidency, focuses on fixing Nigeria
Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, said he is not desperate to become Nigeria's president but is desperate to see the country work for its citizens. Speaking on the Nevon HQ podcast with host Rufai Oseni, the former Anambra governor explained that his ambition is motivated by a desire to fix Nigeria's challenges rather than pursue power for personal gain. "I am not desperate to be president of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work," Obi stated.
He highlighted the economic hardship affecting many Nigerians, especially young people, noting that millions struggle to find sustainable livelihoods. Obi added that he is desperate to see young people gain means of livelihood, to see public money stop being stolen, and for Nigeria to function properly.
The interview comes amid ongoing discussions about Nigeria's leadership and economic recovery. Obi's remarks contrast with typical campaign narratives that emphasize personal ambition for office.
What qualities do you value most in a presidential candidate: a strong drive to hold office, or a genuine commitment to solving national problems?
