Phrank Shaibu labels Tinubu a failure, says Nigerians unaffected by his Europe stay

On Monday, Sept 28, 2026, Presidential aide Phrank Shaibu labeled President Bola Tinubu a failure, stating Nigerians do not miss his absence during his extended working vacation in Europe that began August 30 and was extended from Paris with a return now scheduled for Tuesday, September 29. Shaibu reacted to Tinubu’s adviser Bayo Onanuga’s claim that the president can work globally due to technology.

Shaibu challenged Tinubu to demonstrate how his work from Paris has made life cheaper for Nigerians, pointing out that under the current administration, costs for food, fuel, and transport have increased. He argued that staying in France has not reduced these burdens, with citizens experiencing the damage of maladministration daily. ‘Your boss is a failure,’ Shaibu said, adding that even Tinubu’s family acknowledges this.

The aide urged Onanuga to inform Tinubu that Nigerians are not awaiting his return but need relief, which he has failed to deliver. Shaibu contrasted this with children waiting for a father to bring home kulikuli, insisting the president should leave the stage so Atiku can make life affordable again. This criticism from within Tinubu’s circle highlights mounting pressure as economic hardship fuels discontent ahead of the 2027 elections.
